Tomuslav Goluban – 20 Years On The Road

14 Tracks – 52 minutes Celebrating two decades in the music industry, Croatian harmonica virtuoso Tomislav Goluban, affectionately known as "Little Pigeon," releases his fourteenth album, "20 Years On The Road." A live studio recording featuring a stellar lineup of international guests, this album is a testament to Goluban's harmonica prowess and the friendships he's forged across the globe.

The album kicks off with the infectious instrumental "Express Ride," where Goluban's harmonica takes center stage, weaving through the twin guitars of Peter Prammerdorfer and Mike Diwald from The Tobacco Road Blues band. Goluban's theme song, "Blow Junkie Boogie," follows, showcasing his raspy vocals and addiction to the blues.

Chicago vocalist Skylar Rogers joins the ensemble on "Searchin' for My Baby," delivering soulful vocals that complement Goluban's responsive harmonica. The energy continues with "Forhill's Boogie," a jump blues featuring Rogers, complete with rollicking piano and upbeat rhythms.

Mark Cameron steps in for the rocking "Party Time Blues," a vibrant rock & roll number with slide guitar accents. Cameron returns for "Gambler's Blues," adding a touch of Little Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis flair to the mix.

British vocalist Malaya Blue lends her smooth vocals to "Electric Lights," a track with poignant lyrics attributed to Robert Johnson. Ryan Donahue's baritone takes the lead on "No Means No," a western swing number enriched by horns and Goluban's harmonica.

Kelly Zirbes adds her voice to "Hittin' the Road Again," celebrating the life of a musician, while "Everyday's Fear" addresses political strife, urging listeners to drop their weapons. Gregg "Mac Daddy" Martinez's tenor voice pairs seamlessly with Goluban's swampy harmonica on "Disappear for Good."

The fast-paced rhythm of "Speedin' Train" features Teresa James, infusing the track with energy. California's Crooked Eye Tommy provides instrumental backing for Goluban's harmonica on "I Can't Take It Anymore," delivering a powerful shuffle with a bluesy edge.

The album concludes with a tribute to Sonny Terry on "I Love You Baby," where Goluban provides heartfelt vocals in homage to his first harmonica influence.

While the album features an impressive array of guest artists, Goluban's harmonica remains the star, weaving a consistent thread throughout the diverse tracks. The instrumentalists contribute expertly, with driving piano, expressive guitars, and solid rhythms enhancing the harmonica's prominence.

"20 Years On The Road" is a harmonica lover's delight, offering a global journey through the blues. Goluban's ability to bring together musicians from different corners of the world reflects the universal language of the blues and the camaraderie it fosters. If you're a fan of harmonica-driven blues or looking to discover a new favorite, Tomislav Goluban's latest release is a must-listen.
