Lady A Productions, 2021

10 songs, 44 minutes

Seattle-based powerhouse Lady A, not to be confused with the country band Lady A (formerly Lady Antebellum), graces us with her soul-stirring voice in her latest release, "Satisfyin’." The album, released under Lady A Productions in 2021, is a collection of ten songs that not only showcase Lady A's vocal prowess but also deliver messages of positivity and down-home storytelling.

Lady A's ability to connect with listeners on a soulful level is evident from the opening track, "Whatever You Do." Encouraging us to seize the moment and sing from the soul, the song sets the tone for an album that not only entertains but uplifts. The funky title track, "Satisfyin’," echoes the sentiment of living life to the fullest and finding satisfaction in the journey.

Throughout the album, Lady A co-wrote six of the ten songs, contributing her storytelling and positive outlook. In "Big Momma," she celebrates body positivity, declaring, "I’m big and beautiful, I can’t wear a size 10." The track is a testament to self-love and acceptance. "Blues on my Mind" pays tribute to influential figures like Rosetta Stone, Nina Simone, and Betty LaVette, acknowledging the impact of blues and soul in Lady A's life.

One of the standout tracks, "Miss Beula Mae," weaves an intriguing narrative about a venue owner who demands respect. The vivid storytelling, accompanied by the sound of clinking dishes in the background, immerses listeners in the world Lady A describes. "Blues, Soul, Catfish and Fried Wings" offers a nostalgic journey, inviting listeners to imagine growing up in Lady A's hometown through the evocative lyrics.

Addressing her legal battle with Lady Antebellum, Lady A references the dispute in "For the People in the Back," stating how "they tried to take my name." Despite the challenges, Lady A remains resilient, and her strength resonates through her music. The album takes on a hopeful, gospel-infused tone in tracks like "Brighter Day" and "Heaven Help Us," adding depth to the overall listening experience.

"Satisfyin’" is more than just an album; it's a testament to Lady A's artistry and her ability to deliver messages of empowerment and positivity. With stunning vocals and compelling storytelling, Lady A invites listeners to not only admire her musical talent but also find inspiration in every lyric.
