Eddie 9V, the soul-blues sensation with a voice that echoes the greats, has brought a lifelong dream to fruition with his latest album, "Capricorn," recorded at the iconic Capricorn Records studio. The album pays homage to the rich musical history of the studio, and Eddie's electrifying performances capture the essence of an era that shaped his musical influences.

Eddie, also known as Brooks Mason, possesses an old soul within his young frame. His tenor voice and multi-instrumental talent make him a standout in the world of soul-blues. Critics have likened him to his childhood idol, Sean Costello, reflecting the depth and maturity in Eddie's musical expression. True to his stage name, Eddie 9V delivers electrifying performances that leave a lasting impact.

In his mid-20s, Eddie grew up surrounded by the timeless music of Macon, including legends like the Allman Brothers, Percy Sledge, and Otis Redding. The dream of recording at Capricorn Studios, long abandoned since the label's closure in 1983, seemed like a fantasy. However, the studio's revival in 2019 provided Eddie with the opportunity he had been waiting for, and "Capricorn" is the remarkable result of that dream realized.

Produced by Eddie's brother, Lane Kelly, the album features nine original tracks co-written by Brooks Kelly and Lane. Eddie 9V handles vocals and guitar, alternating on bass with Lane, and contributing drums on six of the 11 tracks. The ensemble includes talented musicians such as Chad Mason, Spencer Pope, Noah Sills, Daniel Wytanis, Justin Golding, Cody Matlock, Dusty McCook, Aaron Hambrick, Tony Erice, Leah Bell Faser, and Chelsea Shag.

The journey begins with "Beg Borrow and Steal," a soulful declaration of love as Eddie vows to go to any lengths to win back a lost love. The funky "Yella Alligator" provides a change of pace, celebrating life in the bayou. A standout cover of Bonnie Raitt's "’Bout to Make Me Leave Home" sets the stage for Eddie's original compositions that explore themes of heartbreak and separation.

The emotional roller coaster continues with "Are We Through," "How Long," and "It’s Going Down," each track delving deeper into the complexities of love and loss. "Tryin’ to Get By" reflects on the aftermath of a breakup, and a cover of Bob Dylan's "Down Along the Cove" brings a more upbeat, celebratory mood.

Eddie's soulful rendition of "Mary Don’t You Weep" takes listeners to church with a modern twist, leading into the poignant "Missouri," where the singer yearns for a return to a place of lost love. The album concludes with "I’m Lonely," a heartfelt expression of sorrow and regret, yet hopeful for a future reunion.

"Capricorn" is not just an album; it's a musical odyssey that traverses the highs and lows of love. Eddie 9V's genuine passion and musical prowess make this collection of songs a treasure for blues lovers. With "Capricorn," Eddie 9V has not only fulfilled a dream but has also created an enduring piece of soul-blues art that will resonate with audiences for years to come.
